Barnard 92 (B92) is a prominent dark nebula located on the northwestern edge of the Small Sagittarius Star Cloud (M24) in the constellation Sagittarius. Discovered by Edward Emerson Barnard in 1913, it was originally nicknamed the Black Hole for its striking appearance: a dense, inky void silhouetted against the rich star field of M24. The obscuring dust lies approximately 10,000 light-years from Earth and is part of the larger emission nebula Sharpless 2-41 (Sh 2-41). B92 is one of the most visually dramatic dark nebulae in the sky, standing out as a sharply defined dark blob against the densely packed background stars of the Sagittarius Milky Way. A smaller companion dark cloud, Barnard 93, lies nearby.
